Making a recipe for the first time is tricky because first off, screwing up is easy, and second, it's hard to know what your experiment is supposed to taste like. So how do you know if you did everything the right way? Well... you don't! At least not all the time. I follow the "did it taste good?" rule. If the final product was worthy of your efforts, then sometimes it really doesn't matter if what you did was right or wrong!
