Lentil Sliders

How many times have you attempted a veggie burger recipe only to find that it crumbles apart?

This has happened to me way too many times, and though it may very well be true that I am just incapable of making a decent veggie burger, I would like to think that maybe I just haven't found a good veggie burger recipe until now.
Most veggie burger recipes use black beans as their main ingredient, but this recipe from Bon Appetit uses lentils, and technically it's a "lentil cake" recipe. Since I manage to alter almost every recipe I find, it became a lentil burger, and so that is the recipe I'll share with you.
I baked these mini french bread rolls the night before using some leftover dough I had frozen from this recipe
To do this, place the dough in an airtight container and let thaw overnight in the fridge or for an hour or two out of the fridge. Once the dough is thawed, cut it into smaller pieces and shape into balls just slightly, then let it rise for another 15-30 minutes. Bake as instructed.

For the Lentil Burgers:
1/2 c lentils
1.5 c water
1 clove garlic
1/2 tsp fresh ginger
1/2 c sprouts
1/4 c chopped cilantro
1/4 c diced onions
1 tbsp chopped mint
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
2-3 tbsp oil

-Let the lentils soak in the water for about 3 hours, then drain any excess water
-Combine all the remaining ingredients in a blender or food processor, but do not overprocess (should be crumbly enough to shape)

To Cook & Assemble:
-Heat a pan with some oil over medium heat
-Form the burgers so that they are just smaller than a golf ball, then flatten them making sure they do not crumble apart before cooking
-Place the burger in the pan and cook thoroughly on each side - they should be golden brown (my mistake is I always flip them too early and they fall apart)
- Place the cooked lentil burger on your bread, top with some hummus and lettuce, and enjoy!
